The Steglitz-Zehlendorf District Office in Berlin – Thanks to deviceTRUST, a pioneer in efficiency and security
In the dynamic world of public administration, the Steglitz-Zehlendorf District Office in Berlin plays a crucial role when the goal is to provide efficient and secure services to its citizens. As one of the major administrative units of the German capital city, the District Office is responsible for around 310,000 citizens and faces the challenge of using innovative technologies to meet ever-growing requirements.
deviceTRUST as the Key to Optimization
In this context, the Steglitz-Zehlendorf District Office decided to implement deviceTRUST to increase efficiency in the work environment while maximizing security standards at the same time. deviceTRUST not only acts as a technological enabler, but also as a strategic partner in dealing with complex requirements.
Printer Mapping – A Practical Example
A key challenge for the District Office was to ensure the efficient management of its printers. Previously, employees were assigned their desktops based on their user ID, something that also applied to the printers. When employees switched to a mobile scenario, printing continued on the designated printers, even if these were not in the immediate vicinity of the staff member.
With deviceTRUST, users get their printers mapped when they log in. Thus, and thanks to printer mapping, printing takes place on the nearest printer

The innovative printer mapping relies on the precise allocation of printers according to the individual needs of the employees. Not only is the printing environment optimized, but resources are also used more efficiently in this way.
In the future, the use case will be further expanded to apply location recognition, so that employees with laptops can also move flexibly around the location and are automatically assigned the correct printers.
Access Management of Applications and Resources
In addition, the Steglitz-Zehlendorf District Office uses deviceTRUST to implement the precise access management of applications and resources. The dynamic allocation of access rights based on contextual information such as location, device type and network status has significantly strengthened security. At the same time, it enables employees to work flexibly and mobile without compromising data security.
Due to organizational constraints, we cannot, for example, grant employees working from home access to payment systems. To meet these requirements, we use deviceTRUST and assign access rights based on defined context information
